Chapel at Lipscomb University

Spiritual Formation doesn’t just occur at 10:55 two days a week...it must become a way of life.

The collegiate experience involves a process of formation. It is a journey of maturation and development that will shape your future. While the process of formation is inevitable, the product of formation is critical. At Lipscomb University we want the product to be Christlikeness. We embrace the theme from Galatians 4:19, “Till Christ be formed in you” and use this text as the motto for our spiritual process at Lipscomb.
Although the spiritual formation process at Lipscomb involves many aspects, the chapel program provides multiple opportunities for students to grow closer to God and one another on a weekly basis. Each student is required to accrue 30 chapel credits per semester (each student must obtain a minimum of 25 credits by attending a T/TR chapel assembly). These credits can be obtained through a variety of ways.
Every Tuesday, the entire Lipscomb Community meets in the Allen Arena at 10:55 am for The Gathering. The Gathering is a campus wide worship experience that provides a valuable opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to worship God, be challenged by dynamic speakers, and enjoy the fellowship of a Christian community.

Each Thursday at 10:55 am, students have the opportunity to select from a wide variety of Breakout Chapels and Small Group Experiences designed to draw students into a more intimate relationship with God. Details for each of these worship experiences can be found below.

Thursday Break Out Venues
SHAMBLIN THEATRE : Be Still and Know a contemplative worship experience
WARD LECTURE : Taste and See an experiential worship experience
ALUMNI AUDITORIUM : Sing Praises a time of praise and worship led by the Lipscomb Praise Team
SWANG CHAPEL IN EZELL: Draw Near a Mid Week Devotional

Because of this belief, students have the opportunity to earn up to 5 Chapel Credits per semester through participation in service projects, mission trips, spiritual retreats, and much more.

Our prayer is that your collegiate experience will draw you closer to the heart of God. Please let us know if there is any way we can serve you on that journey.
