The Write Thing with Kwame Alexander

The Write Thing with Kwame Alexander is in the past.

Parnassus Books is thrilled to partner with Project LIT Community and Lipscomb University to present a special event with Newbery Medal author Kwame Alexander at the Ezell Center, room 301, on the Lipscomb University campus. Alexander will share and sign his new book, The Write Thing: Kwame Alexander Engages Students in Writing Workshops (And You Can Too!).

This event is open to the public, but will be especially valuable to educators. There will be a literacy panel at 5:30 p.m. and Alexander will speak begin taking questions at 6 p.m. In order to bring books from home to be signed by Alexander, you must purchase a copy of The Write Thing from Parnassus at the event. A selection of Kwame's other books will also be available for purchase.

The Write Thing: Kwame Alexander Engages Students in Writing Workshops (And You Can Too!)

Imagine having a Newbery Medal-winning author in your classroom as a coach, an advisor, and a friend, giving you personal and practical advice on how to teach writing workshop in the 21st century classroom. With The Write Thing, you can do just that! Kwame Alexander is the New York Times-bestselling author of The Crossover. With more than 10 years of experience conducting writing workshops in schools, Alexander shows how to shake up the "traditional" writing workshop and make writing fun again! His magnetic personality, contagious enthusiasm, and pure love of teaching come through to affect-and infect!-all students. Even the most reluctant writers will be motivated to write and encouraged to share their voices with others!
